You Opened doors for first-generation students

This year, more than 6,000 students graduated from PSU, many of them the first in their families to attend college. Thanks to you, PSU was able to distribute nearly $4 million in donor-funded scholarships, allowing 1,453 students the support they needed to find their own bright futures.

A Lifeline to Students

In the wake of COVID-19, PSU students demonstrated exceptional strength and resilience. At a moment when educational access is more important than ever, donors stepped up to provide more than $530,000 in FY20 in immediate support, enabling Portland State to invest early in remote learning tools while providing emergency grants to students to help them cover urgent expenses. Read more about how public and private support combined in FY20 to help students stay on track.

Grassroots giving

Two PSU Days of Giving galvanized friends, family and colleagues for a philanthropic bonanza in support of diverse campus causes. Last year's social-media powered campaigns inspired nearly 1,500 faculty, students, staff and alumni to contribute $145,457 in support of more than 80 PSU passion projects and singular giving opportunities—from hardship grants to travel stipends to special support for student organizations.

Serving Neighbors

Together you found new ways to join PSU in serving our city—supporting research projects focused on investigations of particular civic importance, such as quantifying food and housing insecurity in Oregon and at PSU, and helping to ensure that all people are counted in the state's critical 2020 census. Across the city and far beyond, you have also found new and much-appreciated ways to identify and support alumni affiliated businesses during a period of economic hardship for our community.

You strengthened a campaign to let knowledge serve

Your generous contributions this fiscal year helped PSU close in on its $300 million, multi-year campaign to support students, faculty, campus and programs.
