Jacob Suher

A teaching moment

In Spring 2019, assistant professor Jacob Suher, whose research in the School of Business focuses on consumer behavior and healthy eating, was awarded the Blount International Marketing Professorship. Named professorships like his help to power faculty’s research and teaching efforts, and help to attract and retain all-star talent on campus. The Campaign for PSU seeks to create 50 new professorships on campus by 2022.

PSUF students celebrate PSU Day of Giving

Together for good

The PSU Day of Giving galvanized friends of PSU to come together for a giving bonanza in support of mini causes across campus. The day inspired 630 faculty, staff, alumni, students and community members to give more than $65,000 to 45 individual initiatives and projects – from providing new tools for the PSU Steel Bridge team to raising funds in support of the new Queer Opera Program.

A New Center to Serve

In Fall 2018, PSU launched a new research and action focused on understanding the roots of homelessness in Portland and beyond – powered by a generous gift from Tim and Mary Boyle. The center harnesses PSU’s deep expertise in public health, economics, business, design and urban planning – as well as its longstanding relationships with local municipal and nonprofit partners – to examine the causes and identify potential solutions to solve homelessness in our region.

Time to shine

This June, more than 6,100 students walked across the commencement stage and officially became PSU alumni. One in ten of these graduates received donor-supported scholarships – making the final moments of their time as a PSU student especially sweet for those supporters who were rooting for them from the beginning.
